A well-known Malaysian bakery chain has addressed recent concerns about its halal status, emphasizing its commitment to using certified ingredients despite not holding official halal certification. Lavender Bakery issued a statement to clarify its sourcing practices after questions arose on social media regarding its compliance with halal standards.
The company confirmed that while it lacks formal halal certification from authorities, key ingredients like butter, cheese, and sausages are procured from suppliers with valid halal credentials. It also stressed that none of its products contain alcohol, countering claims that had circulated online. A strict “No Pork, No Lard, No Alcohol” policy governs its operations.
Beyond ingredient sourcing, Lavender Bakery highlighted its Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification as proof of its dedication to food safety. This international standard underscores its efforts to maintain hygiene and quality across production processes.
Responding to customer feedback, the bakery acknowledged suggestions to pursue halal certification through Malaysia’s Department of Islamic Development (Jakim). It expressed gratitude for the input and stated it would evaluate the possibility as part of ongoing improvements to build consumer confidence.
